Overview
Post PNG Limited commenced business operations on 1 January 1997 following corporatization from Telikom PNG Limited and the PNG Telecommunications Authority (PANGTEL).
As the authorized postal operator, Post PNG is owned by the Independent Public Business Corporation in trust, reporting to the Minister for State Enterprise & Information. Post PNG is managed by an independent Board of Directors and regulated by the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission.
PNG Post provides detailed reports to the IPBC regularly and it is IPBC’s policy to work with the board and management to further improve the performance and financial position of PNG Post.
Core Business
Post PNG offers a wide range of products and services to meet customers’ needs. Its nationwide network consisting of 45 official Post Offices, 47 Agency Post Offices, 8 Courier & Freight Centers, 12 Agency Banking service, 2 Mail exchange and distribution Centre’s, 6 Post Shops and one Philatelic Bureau provide convenient and accessible outlets for postal products and services.
Post PNG handles an average of 100 thousand pieces of mail daily, approximately 60% of which are concentrated in the Urban areas. To ensure the prompt distribution and delivery of mails, the company maintains a fleet of over 60 mail vans of various types.
Foreign mail are handled by the 2 International Mail Exchange Offices namely: The Mail Distribution centre in Lae and Mail Exchange centre in Boroko which are responsible for the processing and dispatching of foreign and domestic mails.
